Meet Hanna… with a treat!!

One Cold Frigid Night With Hanna

Hanna 1

Introducing Hanna! Like most rescue animals, Hanna had a rough start to her little life. But more to come about that…. Hanna is a female, 9-month-old Calico kitten. She is fully vetted, meaning she is up to date on her shots and has tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDs. She is looking for an indoor, non-smoker home. We do not know how she is with kids or dogs. She is currently residing in a foster home but is ready for her fur-ever home!

The night the Animal Hope Alliance first came in contact with sweet Hanna was a bitterly cold winter night when she was wandering cold, alone and scared in a neighborhood. She chose the perfect house to stop at. Hanna was found by the homeowner clinging to their screen door. She looked up at the man and meowed as if to be saying Please Let Me Hanna flyerIn So I Can Get Warm. Just Please. This was the perfect house for Hanna because though the homeowner could not keep her for the night, he was able and willing to contact the Animal Hope Alliance for help. Of course, this wonderful organization sent someone out in the cold almost instantly to rescue this sweet girl. She was taken in by a foster family until she could be taken to the vet to ensure she was in good health.

Why is Hanna the perfect pet for you?

Just tell me that face isn’t just begging YOU to open your home and let her come in and get warm and stay forever!

Now for a treat!

5 essentials to have been bringing a cat home!

  1. When bringing a cat home that will spend any time inside it is essential to have a litter box to do their business in rather than on your floor. There are plenty of options when it comes to the size or brand of litter boxes. Depending on your budget you can get as fancy as your heart desires. There are decomposing litter boxes that run around $5-$10, the more standard ones run for around $15-$30 and there are even really fancy ones that will clean themselves or will wash your cat’s paws after each use. Those can be pricCat boxed anywhere from $100-$400. I have attached a link to PetSmart for a standard litter box. Hooded Litter Pan

2. In order to bring your new cat home, you will need some sort of transportation for your furry friend. When traveling to a new place your kitty may have some anxiety. It is best to have a safe and secure place for them to travel in. Again like litter boxes, cat carriers can come in many shapes, sizes and can differ in price. I have attached a link to a carrier that would be a great option in my opinion. This crate runs for $29.00 at PetSmart but any standard cat carrier would work. Pet Carriercarrier

3. To keep your new pet alive and well it will be essential to have food and water, as most people know. But how and what you serve your kitty has endless options. You can use simply two plastic bowls from the dollar section at the store or you can get fancy. The one shown here cost $11.99 at PetSmart. The next question is what food? Dry? Wefood disht? Mixed? What brand? This really depends on the cat and your price range. I have attached a link to a review website that lists their top 8 out of the 1,759 formulas discussed.   Cat food reviews

4. The second to last essential is TOYS!!!! The one part that I always seem to go a little overboard on. There are endless options and prices can range from less than a dollar to $50’s. This orange one is one that my roommate’s cat absolutely loves! It only cost $11.50 on PetSmart’s website and they will price match in store! This is for sure a favorite! Anything on a stick is also a big hit with cats. The last one is a four pack at PetSmart that is $1.97. Though these are just a few options cats will really play in a cardboard box with a piece of tissue paper if you are on a strict budget.

5. The last essential item to pick up before bringing home your sweet kitty is a scratching post. Depending on your budget and available space you can go as simple or extravagant as you would like. A scratching post will help to ensure that your cat doesn’t use your furniture to sharpen its claws. I have attached four options that range from very simple to very elaborate. The first can be found at PetSmart for just $5.80, the second can be found for $19.39, the third can be found for $34.99, and the last one can be found for $146.99.

All of the items listed and discussed above can be found at PetSmart but when becoming a cat owner you do not have to purchase all or any items for name brand stores. Stores such as Ross, TJMax, and Walmart are great options and have quality items in my opinion. PetSmart also hosts Animal Hope Alliance adoption events every Saturday and has a few kitties in need of homes who are currently residing at PetSmart full time. If you meet a furry friend at any PetSmart leave a picture in the comments, I would love to see them!

I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! I hope my overwhelming passion for animals and rescued animals, in particular, has made even the smallest impact on you. If you are interested in adopting a fur baby, I urge you to consider opening your home up to Hanna as her forever home. Also if you do end up adopting, keep these 5 essential items in mind. Thank you again.

Reminder: adopt don’t shop
